Level I - Beginner Instruction in dSLR Photography This foundational class emphasizes learning to use your camera. We spend time getting practice shooting in manual modes and seek to gain a deep understanding of applied camera functions. Curriculum: -ISO - Aperture - Shutter Speed and reciprocity -How to know when a tripod will be required to shoot a still subject -Use of individual AF Points -Compositional rules: 'Rule of Thirds' and 'Leading Lines' -Shooting modes - Auto, Program, Aperture Priority, etc. -File formats (Tiff, Jpg, Raw) and color space -LCD vs. Histograms -Lenses, Clear Filters, and Lens Hoods -'F8 and Be There' Gear to Bring: -dSLR camera (any brand) and lens -Your camera's user manual -At least one fully charged battery -Memory card

Level II - Intermediate Instruction in dSLR Photography In this class, we will go into more depth gaining proficiency creating images including detailed shoot planning, design, and composition. Curriculum: -Bracketing -Use of filters -Metering modes (evaluative, matrix, spot) -Capturing motion in daylight -Custom white balance -Lenses and perspective (the right lens for your shoot) Gear to Bring: -dSLR camera (any brand) and lens -Your camera's user manual -At least one fully charged battery -Memory card -Filters -Tripod Prerequisite: Beginner Instruction in dSLR Photography - Level I or equivalent knowledge.

Night Photography Learn to master one of the most challenging yet inspiring times to photograph cities. When the transformation of sunlight to the artificial lights from motorways, offices, and retail centers illuminate the skyline, the photographic opportunities are endless. Curriculum: -Focusing in the dark -Celestial events, planning your shoot, and TPE -Using your timer -Bulb mode -Movement of celestial objects during long exposures (incl. star trail theory) -Intro to light painting -Exposing for the Moon -Using your histogram at night Gear to Bring: -dSLR camera (any brand) and lens -Your camera's user manual -At least one fully charged battery -Memory card -Tripod -Cable release -Torch with extra batteries Prerequisite: Beginner Instruction in dSLR Photography - Level I or equivalent knowledge.
